Facebook SSL Change 1st October
Potential clients are waking up to the impact of Facebook changes.
If the Fanpage does not have SSL potential clients will see a blank page or a security warning when they visit your Fan Page.
On October 1st, Facebook is forcing all Pages to use https – the secure browsing protocol. If your Fan Page does not have an SSL certificate enabled, you are going to be invisible, possibly lose existing fans and rapidly see your Social Marketing take a nosedive.
The solution is to have a SSL certificate. The easiest way is to use us!
If you contact your webhost they will give you the options.
The cheapest route is to use their shared certificates if they have one.
If not you may need to purchase a private SSL certificate.
The easiest host for the chageover is Hostgator who have for many hosting accounts a free shared SSL certificate. Godaddy charges $50.
If your host is difficult or expensive you may be better moving to Hostgator.
When you have the SSL certificate you need to go into your facebook application and add this new secure https URL.
If your fanpage is wordpress hosted you need to go and change the web address to the https URL.
Hope this helps.
